Curriculum Vitae
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus David (born in Frankfurt am Main) studied Physics at the University of Siegen (Germany). Then he was for 4 years researcher with IMEC in Gent (Belgium) and obtained his PhD (Dr.-Ing.) at the University of Siegen (Germany).
After six years with T-Mobile (Münster, Bonn, Germany) as project leader and group head, he became Professor at the chair for mobile systems at the Technical University of Brandenburg (BTU, Cottbus, Germany) in 1998. Here he was a co-founder if the lesswire AG and department head at IHP (Leibniz Institute).
Altogether he was working and living for about 5 years outside of Germany (UK, Belgium, USA, and Japan).
Since March 2000 he leads the Chair for Communication Technology (ComTec) at the University of Kassel.
Since 2005 Prof. David is a co-founder and director of the ITeG (Wissenschaftliches Zentrum für Informationstechnik-Gestaltung, in English Research Center for Information Systems Design).
In 2010 he was a co-founder of the start–up PhoneTec.
From 2012 till 2017 he also had the scientific co-ordination of the department communications and software at the IdE (Institut dezentrale Energiekonzepte, in Engl. Institute of decentral Energy concepts).
Prof. David has filed more than 10 patents, has written 2 Textbooks, and has published more than 250 publications. He is active in international organizations, like:
- IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
- 3 years BoG IEEE VTS till 2027
- EIC IEEE VT Magazine (2015 – 2018, during this time the impact factor increased from below 2 to more than 6)
- Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF), an elected member of the steering board 2016 – 2019
- 4 years Academic Advisor ngmn (next generation mobile networks)
- Reviewer for the German Research Organisation (Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft (DFG)), the ministry of research and education (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF), and of the EU
- TPC member or TPC chair of e.g.: TPC Chair, Future Network & Mobile Summit (FuNeMS), Berlin 2012, TPC IEEE PerCom 2013, 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2021 General Chair IEEE PerCom (A+ Conferenz)

His research focuses on mobile applications and networks, context awareness, machine learning, and AI (Artificial Intelligence). Application areas include: mobility, digital work, 6G, Mobile – Learning, energy efficiency and Smart Cities.
From 2025 on Prof. David is the co-ordinator of the LOEWE excellence in research activity "DyNaMo": DyNaMo: Safe and sustainable mobility in the city of tomorrow – How AI supports traffic safe of biking.
