Simulation
of
Mobile Communication Systems

At ComTec the research focuses on communication networks in general and on mobile communication systems in particular. Current research topics include Mobile IP, Wireless LAN and UMTS, but also Mobile Middleware, E-Learning and Multi Standard Radio Access Networks. For details please refer to the ComTec Homepage
The overall vision of our research could be expressed by the term Wireless Internet. OPNET is the tool of our choice to evaluate our ideas in simulations by either using models provided by OPNET or by developing own models due to our special needs.

Research:

Car2Car

At ComTec OPNET is used to simulate and therefore solve several questions concerning mobil communication in the car environment. Especially problems of the Car2Car communication process with WLAN are analyzed.

Teaching:

ComTec is offering several lectures in the fields of networking and mobile communication. For details please refer to the ComTec Homepage. In these lectures animated OPNET simulations will be utilized to visualize particular mechanisms.

In addition to the lectures ComTec offers practical lab courses including an introductory OPNET course. This course basically offers assistance to the students working through the tutorials provided by OPNET. During the next time ComTec plan also to establish a new OPNET course aiming at more advanced users. The introductory course will be mandatory for participating the advanced course.
